About F. Tennyson Jesse
F. Tennyson Jesse (1888-1958) was an English journalist, author, and criminologist. Her career in journalism saw her write for the Daily Mail and The Times. She reported on the German attacks on Belgium in the First World War for Collier's Weekly, in November 1914, witnessing the siege of Antwerp. Through both her fiction and nonfiction, F. Tennyson Jesse explored some of the most high profile cases of her time. In the introduction to her 1924 criminological study Murder and Its Motives, she declared, ‘It has been observed, with some truth, that everyone loves a good murder.’
I discuss A Pin to See the Peepshow in The Queen of True Crime episode. The Shedunnit Book Club read this title in September 2022. F. Tennyson Jesse is also mentioned in one of my true crime episodes, The Trials of Madeleine Smith.
