About John Dickson Carr

John Dickson Carr (1906–1977) was an American author of detective stories. He also published under the pseudonyms Carter Dickson, Carr Dickson, and Roger Fairbairn. During the early 1930s, he moved to England, where he married Englishwoman Clarice Cleaves. Later, he began his mystery-writing career and is often grouped among "British-style" golden age crime writers. Remembered for his impossible crime plots, Carr's two best-known fictional detectives are Dr. Gideon Fell and Sir Henry Merrivale.
