About Wilkie Collins

Wilkie Collins (1824-1889) was a British author and playwright best-known for his novels, The Woman in White and The Moonstone. The latter title established many of the ground rules of the modern detective novel and is believed by some to be the earliest example of the police procedural genre. Charles Dickens was Collins' friend and mentor, and the two writers collaborated on drama and fiction.
