About Christianna Brand
Mary Christianna Lewis (1907–1988), known professionally as Christianna Brand, was a British crime writer and children's author born in British Malaya (now Malaysia). Her series detectives include Inspector Charlesworth, Inspector Cockrill, and Inspector Chucky. In addition to Christianna Brand, she had numerous pen names: Mary Roland, China Thompson, Annabel Jones, and Mary Ann Ashe. However, Brand is most widely remembered for her children's books featuring Nurse Matilda.
